With over 100 companies involved in R&D and $5 billion of high-tech sales, Yokneam is the 2nd largest center of R&D in Israel. The high-tech area, often referred to as "Startup Village", is strategically located at the intersection of the main highways that connect all of northern Israel to both Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem.
Furthermore, the city of Yokneam and its active volunteer community, developed a special relationship with the business community of Atlanta, Georgia, which is one of the fastest growing centers of commerce and industry in North America.
Despite the city's small size, it has managed to turn itself into the capital of the Israeli technical writing community in much the same way that Nashville, Tennessee is the capital of the American music industry.
