The course will grant you the theoretical and practical tools necessary to enhance your knowledge of the field and your capabilities for professional employment advancement.
The course will consist of four monthly sessions. Each meeting will include 3 hours of lectures, discussion and experiential simulation workshops on personal solicitation, planning fundraising events, corporate sponsorships and internet web site and email fundraising. (See course details below.) The courses will be conducted in English, though the Hebrew terms for key words will be taught. A certificate will be awarded to graduates of the full course.
When and Where: The course will take place on Sundays late afternoon/evenings - November 4, December 2, December 16 and December 30 at the offices of David Maeir Epstein – Resource Development for Nonprofits, 43A Emek Refaim St, 3rd floor, Room 4, Jerusalem.
Cost: When paid for in full by October 24, the cost of the course is 475 NIS for one session, 850 NIS for two sessions, 1000 NIS for three, and 1100NIS for all four sessions. A 50 NIS discount is given to members of Nefesh BNefesh, the Yokneam Forum of Technical Writers, SAZF and AACI who register for all four sessions. Previous participants in our grantwriting course will receive a further 100 NIS discount for the full course. (Fundraising course participants will receive a 100 NIS discount for our grantwriting course). Fees will rise after that date.

October 29: Personal Solicitation – The Basic Building Block of FundraisingFundraising in Israel – Overview; The Map of a Personal Solicitation; Identifying potential contributors; Solicitation research; Preparations before solicitation, Who should be the solicitors?; Making the appointment, A “road map” of the solicitation session; How to respond to common contributor reactions; How to close the gift; What next?
December 2: Personal Solicitation Role-Playing, Experiential Simulation & Analysis. Establishment of "Friends of" support groups.Participants can role-play, practice personal solicitation based on actual prospect information (with names changed) and/or observe and analyze the work of others. Review of existing models of Friends Groups
December 16: Planning Successful Fundraising Events and Practical Guide tot he Establishment of Friends GroupsDinners, Parlor Meetings, Benefit Concerts, Auctions, and Raffles: Appropriate types of events for different types of organizations; Organizational criteria for embarking on a fundraising event; Use of volunteers; How to ensure that your event is not only “successful” but also profitable; Work plan and check list; Budgeting the event – projected costs and income. Participants will develop a fundraising work plan or have their plans analyzed and improved.
December 30: Internet, Email and Corporate FundraisingInternet Fundraising- Critical Resource Development Elements of a Web Site; Review and Analyses of Examples of Successful Sites; Sources of funding on the Web; e-mail newlwetters and e-mail list fundraising
