- A short history of photography
- Fundamentals of photography
- The camera: its parts and workings
- The lens: its parts and workings
- The shutter and the diaphragm: focusing, light metering, and depth of field
- Exposure compensation, metering modes, and photography modes: automatic, semi-automatic, shutter priority, aperture priority, and manual modes
- Composition: visual and artistic tools used in the making a photograph
- Visual perception and learning how to see
- Digital photography vs. film photography
- Portrait photography, movement, nature photography, street and documentary photography, and abstract photography
- The use of color in photography
- Workshops on location: Neve Zedek, Tayelet, Architecture, Kerem Hatemanim, Jaffa
- Night photography: workshop sessions followed by a class critique of the student’s work
